Matters of Importance to the Empire

Thing the first: Thank you to Karswell of The Horrors of it All for the amazing new Love Train banner! He is a gentleman and a scholar. Or a gentleman and a designer. Or a really fine fellow who provides my daily dose of vintage horror comics. However you slice it, Karswell is forever in the good books of the Tenebrous Empire. We lahves him, we do.

Thing the second: I'm toying with attending Fangoria NY-but-actually-NJ. Anybody else thinking of going? Hrmmm? At least two wonderful, dear-to-my-heart people who are reading this entertained the idea, but reality intervened. *moue of discontent* I am now seeing that Michele Soavi is no longer on the bill, but it appears he's bowed out to work on a new film, so I guess that's ultimately forgivable! If I do go, I'll need to figure out something to wear. Thank goodness I have until June 21st to figure that out.

My pleasure Kate, when you donate to the survival of THOIA you get something in return. But I'm looking at the banner now and trying to figure out why it looks sort of blurry.. hmmmmm?!

Wish I could make Fango NY/J. Not a chance in Hell though.

Hey real quick, who's that behind you in your picture? Joanna Lumley? Quick, hide the beer and ludes!

Not sure! I think I shrank it to fit--let me play around with it a week bit tomorrow and see what I can do.

DRAT on Fango! Hopefully our paths will cross at some future event. I tend to find myself at these things a few times a year because I am a big ol' geek :)

That's the fabulous Ms. Dyanne Thorne, Ilsa herself, in that photo!

That is an awesome banner. I'm green with envy and a preexisting jaundice.

Karswell--I think the newly revised banner is less blurry. Thank you for your help, kind sir!

Arbogast--I am fortunate enough to have talented benefactors :) As for the jaundice, it only serves to enhance your sinister appeal. You *work* that look, man!

Karswell also designed the excellent banner at the top of MMMMMovies. Give him a donation and a couple of drinks, and he'll do whatever you want...I mean WHATEVER you want... :)

If money and time were no objects, I'd probably be at every horror con of the year. My house would also be stuffed with obscure DVDs and horror toys, and they'd find me dead one day under a collapsed pile of Vampirella comics and fumetti, several weeks after the fact...

Beloved Vicar, if only I had known! I wouldn't have stopped at the Banner. Fortunately, the Tenebrous Coffers are deep...

As for conventions and the collectors' habit, a friend's wife told him he couldn't build a house out of action figures. Perhaps not, but one *could* gain the esteem and envy of fellow geeks with a fantastic action figure collection, and at the end of the day, that's probably worth more in the nerd economy.

That banner is a thing of beauty!

I used to make the Fango and Chiller shows back when Chiller was run out of a high school gymnasium in Rutherford, NJ, and Fango was in the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan. Chiller was great when it was small but years of worming my way through the throng took their toll on me. At my last convention, I got a ride right up to the front door just as a surprise tropical outburst blew the autograph tent over and soaked every man jack who had been waiting in line. I strode into the lobby of the hotel and everybody looked at me like I had two heads because I was the only one who was dry. And getting into line to go into the dealer's room, I found $20 on the floor. The sun was really shining on my ass that day.

Thanks, Jack! I'm tickled as all hell with that banner :)

Arbogast--your nefarious weather-control ray worked again. I'm imagining that scene in my brain and, while it's not nice to admit, I'm giggling. One of the last Chillers I went to (prior to the one that just past) included my almost getting my ass kicked by two drunk men in an elevator because one thought I'd shoved him O_o I like to think they were both horribly maimed in the tent "accident" you caused ;P

That is indeed a fine banner.

I am beyond annoyed that I was unable to accompany you to Fango NJ. Ice cream and chattery with Italian Cannibal Zombie Gut-Cruncher Director Luminaries was pretty high on my list of Versions of Paradise. *weeps*

I will have to assist in designing your outfit so you can Reprezent for the rest of us! You do that pretty well on your own though, methinks :)

Lovely banner. It almost makes me feel like touching... well, nevermind ;)

I do so love the Horror Wimmins!

Costuminatrix--the horror ice cream social just wouldn't be the same without you. I'm totally game for outfit designs though. Today's Project Runway keyword is "Tenebrous."

Kitty--Oooo errr missus!

New Banner looks great Kate!

I love the new banner. Wow. Very cool. It really adds to your page. That would make a cool bumper sticker.

Kindertrauma and Rogue Spy--all credit goes to Karswell :) I'm a complete luddite when it comes to design projects--it's good to have talented friends!
