Clovis Trouille's Sexy Mummies

Sort of a collage artist working in oil paints, surrealist painter Clovis Trouille revisited many of the same images throughout his decades-long career.  I've shown some of Trouille's nun-related art in the past, and in addition to these convent cuties, he painted seductive harem girls, mysterious masked characters, figures inspired by Hollywood advertising, and also these totally amazing eroticized mummy figures, shown below.

"La Momie Somnambule" - Clovis Trouille
"La Momie Somnambule" - 1942

"La Grasse Matinee" - Clovis Trouille

I never thought mummies could be sexy, and here is proof to the contrary!

Though I admit to a certain personal fondness for the Vampire Bat Merkin. ;) Anything featuring such is GOLD.

Thanks for giving us something beautiful and creepy this morning, Empress! A great way to start the day.

Comment Verification: "douser."

One who douses. But what? And with what? The mind wobbles. :S

Is that the guy that Jean Rollin was so into?

Vicar, I share your love of the bat-merkin! It's a signature element that Trouille incorporates as sort of a "self-censored" strip. There's a painting of some nuns and priests caught in flagrante delicto that utilizes the "naughty bats" to great comedic effect.

Bwana--yes indeed! You can really see Trouille's influence on Rollin in several of his films, most notably "Fiancee of Dracula," which features two of Trouille's paintings on screen.
